Mid-Year Check-In, Happy June 2026 – Nancy Gavilanes

By God’s grace, we’ve made it to the midpoint of 2026!

How’s your year going?

It’s always good to pause and take stock of the highs and lows of the year.

How have you seen God working in your life so far this year?

As I take a moment to reflect on some of the early highlights of this Abundant year (my “One Word” for 2026), I’d like to celebrate some of what God’s been doing so far.

Will you rejoice with me? (Check out a super short highlight reel here.)

10th Anniversary of the Release of Abounding Faith30 Bible Heroes Who Will Inspire You to Believe God for the Impossible (Book 2)! Long before I wrote God-Given Dreams (NavPress) or contributed to a book by Our Daily Bread Ministries’ Voices Collection or was writing for the global Our Daily Bread devotional, I was quietly writing my 2nd of 5 indie books. And long before that, I was a young journaler turned journalist who answered the call to follow God and to lay down my journalism career. After years of my writing being in hiding, I felt God calling me to write and speak for His glory. That’s what started me on this faith writing journey. I’m so grateful to be in that season now.

34th Devotional Article in the Our Daily Bread Devotional Our Daily Bread Ministries’ devotional is translated into more than 50 languages and is available worldwide in print and online via their website, app, podcast, YouTube channel and more! I’m so touched that my devotional articles are blessing Readers near and far! You can read my past devotional articles and an article written about me where I get to share parts of my testimony here

7th Anniversary of being a Bible School Instructor – This is my 8th straight June teaching a summer course for the New York School of the Bible! This Spring semester, I got to teach the Sharing Your God Story online course for the first time. What a blessing to get to glean insight from the Bible about why and how to share Jesus with others and to be able to share parts of my testimony, stories from my years of evangelism training and my years of going on five short-term missions trips to five countries and years of helping to lead evangelism outreaches! It’s a blessing to help my students grow deeper in their faith and love for God! It’s an honor to teach these courses that are based on the Bible and on my books.

Season 13 of the Abounding Faith for Today Podcast- This empowering podcast continues to reach people near and far. You can catch up on all 87 encouraging episodes wherever you get your podcasts. Please take a moment to subscribe to the uplifting Abounding Faith for Today podcast so you don’t miss an episode, leave a kind rating and review and tell your friends about this podcast. If you’d like to invite me as a guest on your podcast, contact me via Abounding Faith’s social media. You can find some of my past interviews on Abounding Faith’s Media page.

4th year being a presenter at the Publishing in Color Online Conference – What an honor for this journaler turned journalist turned author to get to inspire and encourage conference attendees by sharing some lessons and insights I’ve learned during my writing and faith journey! Given my experience as a traditionally published author and an indie author as well as with writing for different publications and working as a magazine editor, I’ve got quite a bit to say about writing.

Interviewed on “Living My Faith” Show – It was a delight to be interviewed recently for the “Living My Faith” show on The Daily News Network. I hope you’re encouraged by this interview. You can check out the interview right here. You can find some of my past interviews on Abounding Faith’s Media Page. Again, if you’d like to interview me (remotely) on your show or podcast, message me on Abounding Faith’s social media.

Only God could allow all of this and more in the first half of 2026!

Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Abounding Faith Devotional (Book 2) by Nancy Gavilanes

Happy 10th Anniversary to Abounding Faith: 30 Bible Heroes Who Will Inspire You to Believe God for the Impossible (Book 2)!

Back when I was writing Waiting on God Well (Book 1), I was also working on Book 2.

Waiting on God Well focused on parts of my faith story.

I also wanted to share the stories of some of the people in the Bible who have inspired me.

Writing the Abounding Faith 30-day devotional was tougher than I expected.

Choosing the Bible heroes to include came pretty smoothly. I had gained much strength and courage from them.

Working on the manuscript required much prayer, focus and study.

When it was all said and done, I had a lovely balance of men and women from the Old and New Testament.

And people still remark about how much they like the different adjectives I use to describe each Bible Hero’s faith.

I chose the mountain top with the sun shining as the cover image to symbolize the tough climbs we face in life.

I included reflection questions and prayer starters (with space to journal) so Readers could reflect and interact with the devotional.

I also included 10 Bible verses to help stir up your faith.

I prayed the book would inspire Readers.

I’m so glad my Dear Dad was able to celebrate the release of Book 2 at the book launch event.

I’m also grateful to my Mom and the friends who celebrated with me.

Enjoy this short video with a few Abounding Faith (Book 2) highlights.

I had NO idea three years later, God would allow me to teach a course based on Abounding Faith at a Bible school!

What a blessing it was to teach my first summer course in person!

And what an honor to teach the class virtually for the first time during the heartbreaking and chaotic summer of 2020 (when I even had a student in Taiwan join us).

And what a blessing that 7 years later, I’m still a Bible school instructor now teaching up to 6 different online courses!

Only God could think of this and make it happen!

Abounding Faith (Book 2) became part of The Trio that would come out one spring after another for three years (from 2015 – 2017).

All my books are special to me for different reasons.

I’m so glad Abounding Faith continues to inspire my Bible school students and Readers near and far.

Writing a 30 day devotional was challenging enough. I also had no idea that a few years later, after much encouragement from my Mom, I’d write Feisty Faith, a 365-day devotional.

But God knew.

Will you help me celebrate Book 2’s milestone?

If you haven’t read Abounding Faith, I encourage you to grab your copy today on Amazon.

If Abounding Faith has encouraged you, I’d love to know. Please leave a kind rating and review on Amazon or Goodreads so more Readers can find out about this empowering book.

Or please let me know on Abounding Faith’s social media.

You can find my books on Amazon.

I so appreciate your prayers and support. Thanks for staying on this faith journey with me!

3 Reasons I’m Still Blogging – Nancy Gavilanes

This month marks the 13th Anniversary of this Miraculous Lovely blog!

I’m so grateful for how God has been with me every step of the way.

Whether you’ve been a faithful Reader for years or you’re new, you’re welcome here.

Back when nontechie and private/introverted me was battling behind the scenes to make this blog a reality, I didn’t know how long I’d be blogging.

I’ve just taken it week by week, month by month and year by year.

Some years the ideas really flowed. Other years, I’ve wondered if I should stop blogging.

Launching my blog on the Monday of Martin Luther King Jr. Day back in January 2013 was a huge step of faith for me.

Blogging was so foreign yet freeing for this former journalist, especially after my writing had been in hiding for years.

I could’ve used this space to rant or rave about just about any topic, but God placed it on my heart to make this blog a place to celebrate His Amazing and Extravagant Love for Us, to celebrate the Miraculous and Lovely moments in life and to encourage Readers to taste and see that the Lord is good.

That’s what I still endeavor to do by the Grace of God.

Blogs come and go. That’s fine.

By God’s grace, this journaler turned journalist turned author and this Audacious Dreamer and Doer continues sharing her thoughts and updates here with whosoever stops by.

As an exhorter and evangelist, I’m honored and thrilled that I get to encourage, inspire and empower you as you walk by abounding faith, hope and love and dare to live your God-given dreams.

So, WHY am I still blogging in 2026? Why haven’t I moved on to a flashier platform or just let AI write for me?

Here’s 3 Reasons I’m Still Blogging:

Writers Write – This blog continues to be a space where I can share my thoughts, musings, updates, breakthroughs, photos, insights, etc. I still see it as a beautiful canvas where I can prayerfully share some of what’s on my mind. Sure, I speak and podcast and record YouTube videos and am active on social media, and I have my website AboundingFaith.com, etc. But I still need a place to write on a regular basis. When I first started blogging, I didn’t know it would help lead to writing books (including one for NavPress) and would help lead to speaking in various places including to a group of Christians working at the United Nations, or hosting my own events, or being a Bible school instructor or writing for Our Daily Bread Ministries. The Bible verse that is coming to mind is, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” (Luke 16:10)

It’s A Way to Reach People – I’m so glad I can connect with people through various platforms. As a writer, blogging is so special because I’m typing words on a screen that can reach Readers across the state, country and across continents. People are searching for hope and encouragement. I pray they will be blessed by something I share on this blog.

God is Still Good – God started me on this blogging journey. As I’ve said many times before, I’ll keep writing and speaking as long as He keeps giving me something to say. I’m grateful for the special moments, milestones, breakthroughs and lessons learned that I’ve gotten to share on this blog. I’m looking forward to all the wonderful moments and insights I’ll get to share going forward.

These are the top reasons that come to mind for why I’m still blogging.

After all these years, I’m still delighting in celebrating the Miraculous Lovely moments in life.

May we have many more Miraculous and Lovely moments to rejoice over this year and beyond.

Thanks for staying on this faith journey with me.

God willing, I’ll continue updating this blog on Mondays (with a few breaks throughout the year).

Continued Blessings!

To God be the Glory!

Reaching the Nations – Nancy Gavilanes

Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.” (Psalm 2:8)

As a native New Yorker, I’ve been surrounded by people from different cultures since I can remember.

As a teen, I became fascinated when the world came together for the Olympics.

If you know my story, you know God called me to follow Him while I was living my dream of going to an Olympics as a reporter and spectator.

Amazingly, God allowed me to go a Summer and Winter Games. What a thrill to be surrounded by people from all over the globe as they came together to watch the best athletes in the world participate in friendly but fierce competition.

Even after God called me to lay down my obsession with elite athletes and my journalism career, I soon realized I still have a heart for the nations.

God called me to follow Him during one amazing week in Sydney Australia.

God called me to be an evangelist a few years later while in Israel.

Even after all these years, I still love when the nations come together to pray and worship Jesus!

What an honor to serve as a Prayer Counselor at a Billy Graham Crusade and Luis Palau Festival!

How wonderful to have gone on 5 short-term missions trips to 5 countries!

What a blessing to be part of multicultural churches where the nations are represented!

God loves the nations. Jesus died for the world. – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16 – 17 NIV)

God’s family is international – “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.” (Revelation 7:9 NIV)

We are one in Christ. – “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28 NIV)

I’m in awe at how God is allowing me to reach the nations to encourage people as they walk by abounding faith, hope and love and dare to live their God-given dreams!

I’m so grateful that my Readers are women and men of different backgrounds, ages and life stages.

I’m thrilled that my books and writing and my online speaking can go further and faster than I ever could and I’ve been to 6 out of the 7 continents.

Here’s just a glimpse of how God is using my work to touch the nations:

Our Daily Bread Author – The Our Daily Bread devotional is translated into more than 50 languages and is available worldwide in print and online. “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” (Matthew 28:18-20 NIV)

Reflecting on a Decade of Abounding Faith with Nancy Gavilanes

This year marks many major milestones for my work and ministry through Abounding Faith.

As I look back on this past decade, I’m in awe of God’s faithfulness. And I’m grateful for all the breakthroughs and God-given dreams He’s allowed me to experience.

After years of preparing me through prayer, studying the Bible, serving in the local church, going on outreaches across NYC and on five short-term missions trips to five countries and going to Bible school, the Lord called me into this season of writing, speaking, teaching and more for His glory!

It’s been a long and winding journey, but God has been leading and guiding me every step of the way.

Hope you enjoy this short video with highlights from the past decade.

As you may know, I’m a journaler turned journalist turned author.

This past decade, God has allowed me to write and contribute to 7 books and host 10 events. Glory!

Here’s a timeline of some of the highlights from these 10 years of being an author, speaker and more:

I couldn’t have done all of this on my own.

I’m so thankful for God’s grace as well as for the love and support from my family, my praying friends, all my Readers near and far, my Email Community, those who’ve attended my events over the years and those who’ve invited me to speak at their church and to their group, whether in person or online.

Some friends and partners along the way have included my CWEN Sisters, The Bowery Mission’s Women’s Center, Queens AGLOW, local pastors, my friends at the upstate church and local nursing homes and many others.

I appreciate your continued prayers as I plan for the next decade and beyond.

This faith journey isn’t as easy or glamorous as you may think.

It takes much prayer, dedication, perseverance, hard work, creativity and FAITH!

10 Lessons Learned from 10 Years of Being an Indie Author – Nancy Gavilanes

I’ve been reflecting a lot on my decade of being an indie author.

There have been many highs and lows over the last 10 years.

When I released Waiting on God Well: How to Prevent Breaking Down on Your Way to Your Breakthrough (available on Amazon) back in March 2015, it was still somewhat rare and taboo to be an independent author.

Not everyone understood what I was doing (that’s OK).

I felt God calling me to WRITE.

I didn’t know any publishers or agents.

But I did have a story to tell. And my journalism experience from years before helped me tremendously.

I’ve worked with my heart and soul on all of my books.

I see being an indie author as being an indie filmmaker or musician.

I say, honor God with whatever assignment He’s entrusted you with in any particular season.

Writing and releasing my first book was a huge writing milestone for me.

I’m thrilled that writing Book 1 helped lead to the following breakthroughs (so far):

  • Writing 5 indie books
  • Writing 1 traditionally published book with NavPress
  • Being an Our Daily Bread Author
  • Being a Bible school instructor
  • Hosting 10 events
  • Speaking in a United Nations building, in a Christian college, giving my brief testimony at Times Square Church, speaking to different groups and being interviewed in different media outlets, etc.

While I’ve grown and learned and experienced many wonderful breakthroughs this last decade, I’ve also experienced many challenges and obstacles. And I’m still waiting on God for more breakthroughs.

Here’s 10 lessons I’ve learned along the way:

Starting Small Counts Before I wrote my first book, I was journaling and sharing early devotional pieces with a few trusted friends. I also started blogging to share some of my thoughts and lessons I was learning with others. Not sure where to start with your Kingdom assignment? What’s in your hand? Start there.

Move Forward After I prayed and reflected and planned and sought wise counsel, the time came to MOVE FORWARD and start writing the first draft of my book. I didn’t have everything figured out, but I had to start putting pen to paper and my fingers on the keyboard. What’s one step you’ve been praying about?

Work with Excellence In my case, that meant taking my time writing and revising my manuscript, working with an editor to polish that manuscript and working with a designer to create the cover. It meant making countless decisions about the book’s content and design and publication. It also meant going outside my comfort zone to learn about marketing and being active on social media and attending different events, etc. Writing the book is just the first of countless steps in the process.

Perseverance is Key Even when you’re following God’s path for you, you’ll face trials and giants and obstacles. The journey is a marathon, not a sprint. Don’t give up in the middle of your story. Keep pressing forward and PERSEVERE!

Keep Good Company Some people will genuinely cheer you on and support you as you step out in faith. Others will come and then go when the journey is taking too long. And still others will stay silent and refuse to rejoice with you. Ask God to guard your heart. And pray that God surrounds you with the right people every step of the way.

Be Consistent For me, that meant I was to keep writing, speaking and blogging regardless of my platform size. Continue being a blessing to those who show up. If you’re faithful in the little, God can trust you with abundantly more!

It’s Gonna Take Time The saying is true. Patience is a virtue. God isn’t in a rush. His Kingdom work takes time. Try to find joy and reasons to rejoice all throughout your journey.

Trust & Follow God God doesn’t usually show us the whole plan all at once and with all the details. Bummer, right? LOL But He’s not obligated to tell us everything. We’re called to walk by FAITH! God wants us to want Him more than anything we’re waiting on Him for. And He wants our love for Him to grow deeper and deeper. Don’t fall for the short cuts or counterfeits or detours or get fooled by flatterers or deceivers. Follow Jesus! And honor Him all throughout your journey.

Keep Moving Forward Keep praying and taking one faith step at a time. Don’t lag behind God or try to rush ahead of Him. Walk with God.

Believe Remember the words God has spoken to your heart. Meditate on His promises in the Bible. God can do the IMPOSSIBLE! He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. As my late pastor would say, “If God said it, I believe it. That settles it.”

It’s been so lovely to see many of my Readers experience breakthroughs in their personal life, professional life and in ministry, etc.

It’s been moving to see how my books have encouraged ministry leaders, pastors’ wives, Christian counselors, Christian college and Bible school students and many more.

My True Gold Medal Moment (My Testimony)

As a little girl, I wasn’t interested in watching the Olympics. Even though my Mom told my sister and me that it only took place every four years, I wanted to play with my dolls instead.

As a teen, I became enthralled with the beauty and pageantry and the excitement of elite figure skating and gymnastics competitions.

I was hooked on the Olympics!

I inhaled every skating or gymnastics competition on TV. I’d record the competitions or exhibitions and watch them over and over again.

I was mesmerized.

I was sooo enamored with the Olympics that I started taking figure skating AND gymnastics lessons.

I’m so grateful to my parents for spending hours shuttling me to or from skating or gymnastics lessons (I actually got good driving practice with my Dad on the way to the gym.)

My parents also enjoyed taking me to watch skating shows and buying me skating and gymnastics magazines and memorabilia.

I didn’t just want to be in the gym or rink, I wanted to meet all my favorite Olympians.

Amazingly, I got to meet many of them during a prestigious gymnastics summer camp I went to.

That wasn’t enough.

My Dear Dad also took us to watch our very first Gymnastics Olympic Trials. I think I went to watch two more Olympic Trials live after that.

That still wasn’t enough.

I dreamed of traveling to all the Olympic stadiums around the world.

I was amazed that I got to visit the Olympic stadium in Athens Greece as a teen when my parents sent my sister and me on a trip to Europe through my high school.

I still wanted more.

My obsession with the world’s biggest sporting event would compel me to study journalism. Although there were several reasons why I majored in journalism, my ultimate dream was to go to an Olympics as a reporter.

Where did I get that audacious dream?

I’m not sure, but I’d go on to meet and interview or photograph many of my favorite Olympians.

You can see a few pics from what I call my “Olympiac Daze” in this short video.

And amazingly, my dream of going to an Olympics as a reporter and spectator came true very early on in my journalism career.

I went to the Summer Olympics to chase elite athletes.

God had a divine plot twist for me.

God chased me down at the Olympics.

My life has never been the same.

I still write and speak about that moment because God met me in such a special way that day in Olympic Park.

MY TRUE GOLD MEDAL MOMENT

It was my last day at the Olympics. I had had a wonderful week attending some events, meeting some athletes, and soaking in all the sights and sounds.

I loved seeing the world come together in PEACE for this global sporting event. I loved hearing the different languages being spoken and seeing the fans and athletes wearing their flags with pride and cheering for their home countries. I reveled in all the festivities I could.

Making it to an Olympics was my gold medal moment.

Or so I thought.

I had been captivated by making it to the Games for so many years. But on my final day there, I still felt empty.

I had gotten myself to the other side of the world and it still wasn’t enough.

I realized it would never be enough.

On my last day there, I was at Olympic Park crying.

I think all of my Mom’s and sister’s prayers finally kicked in.

God had finally gotten my attention.

I realized I didn’t deserve all these blessings and wonderful experiences.

I had been running away from God.

As I pursued my journalism career and my passion for sports, I had drifted further and further from God.

I loved God, but I had tried to put Him on a shelf.

I was making my plans and asking God to bless them.

I had my own dreams and desires and vision for my life.

I had gotten myself pretty far.

Notice, all the “I’s” in my recent statements?

I had been rebelling against God and not asking Him for guidance and direction.

Big mistake.

There at Olympic Park, I was overwhelmed by God’s grace and love and mercy.

Without a pastor or evangelist near me, I surrendered my life to God.

Looking back, that was my ultimate Gold Medal Moment.

OUR DREAMS VS. GOD’S DREAMS FOR US

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying sports or exceling in your career.

But if your identity, worth, and value are wrapped up in your interests, hobbies, career, title, or relationships, watch out.

Does God have first place in your heart?

God wants to be at the center of our life.

God wanted to be at the center of my heart.

At the Olympics and soon afterward, God graciously showed me that I had made idols out of sports and my career.

That was a defining and sacred moment when God called me at the Olympics. He later called me to lay down my journalism career. (Please note He doesn’t ask everyone to do that.)

I’ve been on a faith adventure ever since.

That journey has been long and winding, but has included many adventures including going to Israel (years ago) as well as going on five short-term missions trips to five countries.

It’s also included serving as a prayer counselor at a Billy Graham Crusade and a Luis Palau Festival and training as a volunteer chaplain.

I’m now using my writing and speaking gifts to encourage people as they walk by abounding faith, hope, and love and dare to live their God-given dreams. You can learn more at AboundingFaith.com.

I’ve spoken to a group of Christians working at the United Nations, students at a Christian college, given my brief testimony at an evening service at Times Square Church, and more. I’ve also hosted a few of my own events and am now a contributing writer for Our Daily Bread Ministries.

I’m also a Bible school instructor. Surprisingly enough, one of my recent students was a two-time Olympian. Only God could orchestrate that!

None of these were my idea.

I’ve just continued to try to follow as the Lord leads.

I’m honored to be the author of six Christian living books and devotionals.

I write about how God called me to follow Him in my new book God-Given Dreams: 6 Ways to Live Your Divine Purpose (NavPress, available wherever books are sold) and in By Faith: Adventures and Reflections on Walking With God Here and Abroad (available on Amazon).

After God met me at a Summer Olympics, He allowed me to go to a Winter Olympics as a reporter and spectator. That was another incredible experience, but by then God was Lord of my life.

I’m so grateful that I can now enjoy the Olympics like a regular fan at home.

I still get excited and cheer for the athletes to do their best. I admire their hard work and dedication.

But my identity isn’t wrapped around who I’m meeting or interviewing.

I’m sharing parts of my story to inspire you and as a cautionary tale.

We can have dreams for our life, but have we checked in with God?

That’s why my latest book is titled God-Given Dreams.

God has even better dreams for us than we could ever hope or imagine (Ephesians 2:20-21 NIV).

God has given us gifts, talents, and abilities.

God has good works ordained for us to do (Ephesians 2:10 NIV).

Have you asked God how He wants you to use those gifts, talents, and abilities to honor Him?

I love when athletes thank God right when they win their competition.

RUN YOUR RACE WELL

We may not be athletes, but did you know that we’re all in a race?

We’re not competing against each other though.

In the following Bible verses, the apostle Paul compared a Christian’s journey to being in a race:

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NIV)

Earthly crowns and medals and wealth will fade one day. The apostle Paul encouraged the believers in Corinth, and us, to be disciplined as we live for Christ. He is our true and lasting treasure.

Everything else pales in comparison to the hope we have of heaven through Jesus.

The writer of Hebrews encouraged readers, and us, to run the race marked for us with perseverance. Life is a marathon, not a sprint:

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” (Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV)

As we keep our eyes on Jesus and consider all that He endured on the Cross for us, we won’t grow weary or lose heart along our journey.

If you’ve been running away from God like I was, I encourage you to run toward Him.

God loves you!

We can’t outrun God’s love for us!

May these Bible verses inspire you as you run your race:

“Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31 NIV)

NOTE ABOUT PICS

I’m so grateful that God has allowed me to experience many of my Olympic dreams over the years. The above pics are from FOUR Olympic sites (I’ve also driven past the stadium in Los Angeles.)

Why do I still get excited about the Olympics? I love it when the world comes together in PEACE. It’s still a thrill to watch the world’s best athletes come together in friendly (but fierce) competition. When the elite athletes are at their best, they’re amazing.

LOL We’d celebrate at the beginning and end of the month and sometimes in between😀 My Dad reveled in family, food and fiestas. My birthdays started out with McDonald’s parties and somewhere around my teen years I would be MORTIFIED when mariachis would pop out of nowhere at the restaurants.
