Cover Reveal for My Second Book!

I’m excited to share the cover of my second book Abounding Faith: 30 Bible Heroes Who Will Inspire You to Believe God for the Impossible! Glory to God! I hope you like it! If so, please let me know in the comments below.

Please pray for all those who will be reading this second book. It will be available on Amazon and the end of March. I’ll have much more to share with you as the date gets closer.

In the meantime, please also pray as I put the finishing touches on the book, plan the launch event, and line up different speaking opportunities. I am open to speaking to different groups and at different events about this book and other topics such as Waiting on God Well, so please keep me in mind for future events.

I’m delighted that after such a long season of waiting, the Lord is opening doors that no man can shut!

I pray that God will also open doors for you in different areas of your life. God is alive! He is on the throne! He wants to rule and reign in your life!

3 Keys to Waiting on God Well

What are you waiting on God for? Are you frustrated or anxious because you don’t see God moving in your life? Are you tempted to give up and walk away from all that God has promised you?

Don’t quit in the middle of your journey!

I wrote Waiting on God Well: How to Prevent Breaking Down on Your Way to Your Breakthrough! (Available on Amazon) after a long season of waiting for breakthroughs in various areas of my life. I’m delighted to hear how it has blessed readers! Waiting on God Well provides insightful tips, practical action steps, and inspiring Bible verses to encourage you to keep walking through whatever valley, desert, or wilderness you are in.

I’d like to share three keys to help you through your waiting season. They are adapted from my book Waiting on God Well.

Abide in Christ – We are built for fellowship with God. Time spent alone with our Savior and Creator is priceless. There is nothing like slowing down and just being with God. After all, He’s the only one with all the answers. He is our loving Heavenly Father. He is the Author of our life and He is the Master Storyteller. There is no set formula for what you should do. You could quietly read your Bible. You could be on your knees, praying. You could sing your cares away along to praise music or scribble your heart out in your journal. You could cry tears of sadness or joy, or you could just sit in the silence, knowing that Jesus is right there with you.

As Jesus says, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5 KJV).

Praise Him Before the Triumph – It’s easy to praise God after the battle is won, but it takes faith to praise God before the victory! I’d like to think all of heaven takes notice when you praise God while you’re still in the storm. The more you magnify God, the smaller your problems will seem. It will help you keep things in perspective. It may seem odd to you at first, but don’t worry. We were made to praise God. Lament if you must. Worship with tears in your eyes if you have to. But remember to bless the Lord at all times. Even in the midst of your trial.

“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice” (Philippians 4:4 KJV).

Lean into Your Community – The enemy would like nothing more than to keep you isolated. Resist the urge to be a lone ranger. Reach out to others—even if it’s not comfortable for you. There is healing when you share your life stories and concerns with others. There is growth when you allow others to come alongside of you on your life journey. There is something so rich that comes from trading your “war stories.” You might find there are others going through similar battles. No church or family is perfect, but God has placed particular people in your life to share laughs with, get wise counsel from, and bounce ideas off of. It’s no coincidence that they are in your circle of friends. Women need a group of sisters around them. Men need a band of brothers.

“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend” (Proverbs 27:17 KJV).

Waiting on God Well’s 1st Anniversary!

What a year it’s been since the release of the printed version of my first book Waiting on God Well: How to Prevent Breaking Down on Your Way to Your Breakthrough!

I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported my book! I’m touched to hear how Waiting on God Well has blessed you! Thank you to everyone who has bought the book for themselves, written reviews about it, and bought copies of the book to share with friends.

Writing can be a solitary experience, so it’s great when I can celebrate with others. I love that this book has touched people of different backgrounds, ages, and both women and men.

We’re all waiting on God for something, right? I’ve heard stories of folks waiting for a new job, for their spouse to come to the Lord, to meet their significant other, and others waiting for healing in their bodies, etc… Some have said they couldn’t put the book down once they started reading it. Others have thanked me for including the Power Verses and the Action Steps at the end of each chapter.

I love what the Lord is doing in and through people as they read Waiting on God Well! Here’s just a sample:

The overall consensus from those who filled out the survey was that you are being blessed by my work. Glory to God!

Here are a few reasons you gave for why you would “absolutely” recommend Waiting on God Well to others:

  • “It’s a great guide to learning how to wait. It gives biblical principles and examples as to what to do.”

This week I’m reflecting on the lovely time I had with the family and friends who attended my recent Waiting on God Well Book Talk and Signing event. I’m blessed that my parents were there. I’m touched by those who came and those who were praying for the success of the event. I’m delighted to hear how the book is touching lives. I’m grateful to my volunteers.

I’m encouraged to know that you are being blessed by my writing. I’m inspired to continue on this journey and follow as the Lord leads me. It makes me want to continue using my gifts to bring Glory to God!

A writer can write her heart out. There’s a joy in that, but it’s also sweet when someone actually reads your work and tells you that your writing has made a difference in his or her life!

Waiting on God Well Book Update

It’s been awhile since my book Waiting on God Well launched. As I gear up for my latest Book Talk and Signing this Saturday, I’d like to share a bit about how things with the book are going! A Big Thank You to all my readers! 

I’m so encouraged to hear how people are being touched by Waiting on God Well! As a writer, the biggest feat for me was simply getting all the words down. Sharing it with others and hearing their feedback has been such a blessing!

Readers are saying that they can’t put it down and that it’s speaking right into their situations. It’s resonating with women and men, young and older, and folks from all different backgrounds. Some are buying copies for their friends. They are being inspired as they wait on God for their promises. Glory!

To know that one small group is already studying my book is amazing. To be able to sit with them and hear what they had to share was an honor!

Getting to speak with the lovely ladies at The Bowery Mission Women’s Center was also a delight. I’m so touched to hear that Waiting on God Well has been added to their reading list and that two women are going to be writing book reports about it! Oh my!

Add to that, I got to lead a Connecting session at the recent Hope Gathering women’s conference. It was so special to gather with other women to talk, listen to each other, pray, and remind each other that Jesus is our Hope!

And I was interviewed for the podcast “Living At My Best With Donna Woolam” and the TV show “Open”.

Whoa, this is all part of what I’ve been waiting to do!

To just be free to talk to groups, large and small. To encourage folks one at a time and at gatherings. To me, this really does feel like living in the Promised Land!

Only God knows what else He has in store for this book and who else will be touched! If you would like me to come speak at your event or small group, please feel free to contact me. Let God Lead!

Open 5During my journalism days, I was no stranger to newsrooms and spent time in TV studios and around some well-known public figures. But back then I never thought that I would one day be interviewed on TV!

Me? Private me? Writer/Reporter me?

No. I’m more of the interviewer. I like asking the questions. But to be on the spot and have to answer questions live on TV! Me? No way.

But God!

I’m in a season of “Crossing My Jordan” and trying to go through every door the Lord opens. Yes, all that time of waiting and preparation has its purpose and rewards!

When God opened the door for me to appear on the show “Open” on BronxNet last Monday to talk about my book Waiting on God Well, I prayed and went. It was a different type of mission field. But as long as God was there, I was fine. I couldn’t have asked for a more gracious host than Bob Lee! He even let me pray on air! Glory!

Afterwards, I took my time walking through the beautiful campus of Lehman College in the Bronx and I shot this short video:

God is doing a new thing in my life. He is opening doors that no man can shut! Praise God!

He wants to do wonderful things in your life too! Do you believe it? If you’re in a desert place, take heart! It gets better! It doesn’t always happen overnight, but it does happen!

Blessings to you as you trust and obey God! Let God lead and just watch where He takes you!

Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness

and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:19)

What’s Been Happening at Abounding Faith?

The first half of this year has been quite a whirlwind. All Glory to God! I’ve got lots of news to share. In case you were wondering what I’ve been up to lately, here goes:

  • It’s been so exciting to celebrate the launch of my first book Waiting on God Well: How to Prevent Breaking Down on Your Way to Your Breakthrough! It’s been so well-received. My Pastor even told the congregation that everyone should keep a copy of my book close to where they have their Bible so they can refer to it. Wow, what an honor! I love hearing how the book is touching people. If you’ve read it and it’s been a blessing to you, please write a review on Amazon or feel free to leave a comment below.
  • I recently got to speak and run the whole service at my friend’s church in Upstate, NY, which was such a blessing! If you’d like to invite me to come speak at your church or event, click here.
