3 Bible Verses About Patience!

I’m continuing my series based on the Fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

I have to admit that patience, or forbearance, is still not my favorite Fruit of the Spirit. I’ve gotten much better with waiting on God over the years, but it can still be struggle.

How about you? Are you waiting for a breakthrough in your finances, health, or personal life?

We’re all waiting on God for something, so it’s important how we wait.

I’m grateful for the Holy Spirit’s supernatural patience that helps us as we wait with expectancy for God to move in our lives and to fulfill His promises to us.

In my book Waiting on God Well: How to Prevent Breaking Down on Your Way to Your Breakthrough I share insights I’ve learned while waiting as well as encouraging Bible verses, actions steps, and reflection questions to help you during your season of waiting.

Here are just 3 Bible verses to help you during your waiting season:

  • “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalm 27:13-14)
  • “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.'” (Psalm 46:10)
  • “And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.” (Hebrews 6:15)

There’s no short cut to becoming a patient person. It comes with much prayer, surrender to God’s timing, much practice with having patience with people, and with trusting that God is faithful and that He will see you through!

Waiting on God isn’t easy, but it is worth it! Blessings to you as you patiently wait in faith for God to move in your life as He has promised in the Bible and to your heart!

7 Bible Verses to Boost Your Hope!

copy-of-7-bible-verses-to-help-fight-fear

Are you struggling to wait on God to fulfill His promises in your life? Are you afraid that you’ll never see a breakthrough in your finances, personal life, or ministry work?  If so, I’d like to encourage you not to give up! God is Faithful and will move in your life in His perfect timing and in His perfect way!

Here are a few Bible verses to help you be a prisoner of hope and weather whatever storm you are facing:

  1. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)
  2. “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”  (Psalm 62:5-8)
  3. “But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” (Romans 8:24b-25)
  4. “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” (Romans 4:18)
  5. “Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.” (Zechariah 9:12)
  6. “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)
  7. “May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.” (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17)

God will not let you down. Trust Him to work out your situation for your good as He promises to do in Romans 8:28!  God specializes in parting seas, raising the dead, healing the sick, and saving the lost.

Be encouraged! “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

Abounding Faith’s Latest Designs – An Ode to Majestic Mountains

Abounding Faith Mountains

God willing, my second book Abounding Faith: 30 Bible Heroes Who Will Inspire You to Believe God for the Impossible will be on sale on Amazon next Monday. Glory! As I gear up for the launch, I wanted to share some of the newest designs added to Abounding Faith’s online store.

I created these items to match the cover of Abounding Faith. These majestic mountains are none other than the Swiss Alps! I took this picture during my Epic European vacation last year!

There is something so special about mountains! I smile whenever I see them. I’ve seen quite a few mountains in my travels starting with the Catskill and Adirondack mountains in upstate New York. I’ve been to breathtaking Pikes Peak in Colorado. I’ve seen the incredible mountains in Alaska. I’ve walked on the amazing Andes mountains in Ecuador and the marvelous mountains in Israel!

As a city girl who grew up surrounded by New York’s skyscrapers, I take great delight in getting away outdoors among God’s creation.

Perhaps I’m fascinated with mountains because they remind me of the grandeur of God! They remind me how small I am in this vast world. They inspire me. They leave me awestruck.

While I’m enthralled by looking at mountains and absolutely love being on the mountain tops, it’s a whole other story when I face issues that feel like mountains in my life.

My first reaction is usually to be intimidated by the mountain/issue instead of facing it head on and charging up to the peak. Thankfully after prayer, the Lord usually gives me the strength to keep moving forward.

What about you? How do you handle the mountains in your life? It’s ok to be honest…

Do you ever speak to those mountains?

I’d like to remind you what Jesus said to His disciples. “Jesus replied, ‘Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.’” (Matthew 21:21-22)

What an amazing promise! That issue you are facing (perhaps doubt, depression or discouragement) has to bow down to the name of Jesus!

Since we’re on the topic of mountains, I’d like to share three more Bible verses that I hope will encourage you:

  • “‘Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the LORD, who has compassion on you.” (Isaiah 54:10)
  • “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore.” (Psalm 125:1-2)
  • “I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2)

Crossing My Jordan

waterfall-828948_1280

The beauty of Waiting on God Well is knowing that at the right time God will step in and move in your situation.

I’m excited to announce that after much waiting, praying, dreaming, and believing, the Lord has given me the green light to move into the next chapter of my work and ministry life. I have left my fulltime job to actively pursue writing, speaking, life coaching, and hopefully more missions trips! You can learn more about it on my website www.AboundingFaith.com.

Launching out into this fulltime ministry isn’t something I take lightly. I don’t advise you to do so unless the Lord has made it clear to you that that is His next step for you at this time.

I’m thrilled because this is one of the breakthroughs I have been waiting for. And if you’ve already read my book Waiting on God Well, you know how trying this past season has been. But it was so worth it to wait on God’s timing. I have such peace about it. I can see how the Lord has used these past years at my job to help me gain skills that I could not have gotten in the newsroom or in the classroom as a teacher.

So what does this mean for you, my lovely readers? Hopefully, all good things!

It means I’ll have more time to keep encouraging you through my writing, blogging, and videos. It means I’ll be more available to speak at your events and small groups and to hopefully hold more books signings. It means I will have more time to be a Life Coach to dreamers, visionaries, and creative entreprenuers like YOU! You can learn more here.

We can also connect on Facebook and finally on Twitter.

I’m looking forward to this new chapter of my life. I’m so thankful to God and grateful that you’re on this journey with me! I hope my journey will inspire you to TRUST God no matter what!

I also hope my story will encourage you that waiting on God is worth it!

Don’t quit in the middle of your story! Persevere in prayer. Stand firm in your faith. Do what the Lord asks of you. Then wait and see how the Lord shows up and shows off in your life!

The best is yet to come, my friends!  God is Faithful. He will do everything He has promised you and more!

To God be the Glory!

“Moving Beyond the Fog” Special Video

As some of you may know, I recently won Our Daily Breads Facebook Contest for Readers. I’m so honored and delighted to have won. I have been reading them for many years. Their inspirational words have encouraged me many times and their writing style has influenced me as well. They recently asked me to film a short-video to share at a staff meeting. I hope you enjoy the video. I’ve also included the devotional below. Blessings to you!

Moving Beyond the Fog

Read: Psalm 119:105-107

“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105

Over the years, I’ve gotten accustomed to driving from New York City to Upstate New York to visit my sister and her family. Usually the ride over the Tappan Zee Bridge, which is the longest bridge in the state, is one of the most scenic parts of the trip. I love seeing the beautiful mountains and the Hudson River. But that wasn’t the case the day I got caught in a downpour and was blinded by fog. It was so thick that I couldn’t even see the cars beside me! All I could see were the taillights from the car directly in front of me, so I followed his lead until I safely crossed the bridge.

In our daily lives, how often do we get blinded by the fog of doubt, despair, discouragement, or disappointment? Something happens and we lose sight of God’s Word and His plan for our lives. We forget God’s promises and are tempted to give up in the middle of our journey. It’s in those moments that we need to cling to God and His Word. He will show us the way to go. His Word is “a light to [our] path” (Psalm 119:105), which helps lift the fog.

Jesus, the Good Shepherd, will guide, protect, and love us every step of the way.

Thank You, Lord, that even when we’re tempted to give up, You don’t give up on us! Help us to trust You and keep walking by faith and not by sight.

What seems foggy to us is crystal-clear to our all-knowing God.

I’m trying to take advantage of shooting videos outdoors while the weather is still nice. I hope you enjoy this short video. If you’re going through a tough time, remember that God is working things out for you. You may not see it right now, but He is working it out behind the scenes. Blessings!

It Ain’t Over!

elevator-358249_1280

The other day after lunch, I was heading back to my office. As I approached the elevator bank, I was happy to see that two out of the eight elevators in that particular section of the lobby were open. However, they were two of the furthest from me so as I got closer to them they both shut at the same time. Bummer.

But no biggie. I guess I could have hurried up and tried to rush into one of the elevators, but I remained calm knowing that another one would quickly come.

I waited a moment to give the elevators time to leave the lobby, and then I pressed the button. To my surprise, the same two elevators instantly opened.

I just had to chuckle. Yes folks, I found a spiritual lesson during this elevator incident.

I thought the Lord wanted to show me not to worry because when one door closes (or in this case two at the same time) another one opens. Or maybe He wanted to show me that there’s always “another elevator to catch if you miss the first and second ones”. But not so!

I saw those two doors shutting as missed opportunities so to speak. By having them both open again, it was like the Lord wanted to show me, “It ain’t over unless I say it’s over!”

Isn’t that like the Lord always keeping us on our toes?

Are you facing some seemingly closed doors? Does it feel like you have missed your opportunity? Do you worry that you’ll never make it from point A to point B?

Could I encourage you to ask the Lord if He closed the door or if it’s just a test, obstacle, delay, etc… that you need to persevere through?

Lately, the Lord has been reminding me that He is the Resurrection and the Life!

I’m reminded of when the prophet Ezekiel has a vision of a valley of dry bones. What does God ask him to do?  He commands Ezekiel to… “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!  This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’” (Ezekiel 37:4-6)

Ezekiel prophesied and God breathed on the bones and they miraculously came to life! While those bones represented how God was going to restore Judah and Jerusalem, we can still learn from that story and speak to our valley of dry bones.

Why not prophesy over your “dead” situations? Ask God to breathe life into those areas.

Remember that:

  • God opens doors that no man can shut. (Revelation 3:8)
  • He’s an expert at making a way where there seems to be no way including by parting seas. (Isaiah 43:16)
  • He provides water in the wilderness and makes streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:20)
  • He makes crooked places straight or will level mountains for us. (Isaiah 45:2)

If God clearly has closed a door, then ask Him to give you the strength to move on. BUT if He says, “It ain’t over,” then as Christians let’s Trust Jesus to step in, intervene, and make things right in ways that only He can do. To God be the Glory!
